Yes, .my DOMAIN REGISTRY will deal only with three Contact Person(s) whom you must list in your application: an Administrative Contact , a Technical Contact and a Billing Contact . In the case of personal domain names, the Registrant is the same as the Administrative Contact.

    Administrative Contact
This is the authorised person able to speak and contract on behalf of the Registrant. The Administrative Contact must be an authorised employee of the Registrant organisation/company.
Only the contact person listed in your Registration form will receive e-mail notification from .my DOMAIN REGISTRY when the registration is completed. All non-technical queries regarding the domain name shall be directed to him/her.
Once a domain name is successfully registered, the Administrative Contact is allowed to do the following tasks:
    Technical Contact

This is the person who maintains the domain name's primary name server, secondary name server, resolver software and the domain name database files. This person keeps the name server running.

He/she also answers all queries regarding technical matters, and interacts with technical people in other domains to solve problems affecting the domain name.

Only the contact person listed in your Registration form will receive e-mail notification from .my DOMAIN REGISTRY when the registration is completed.

Once a domain name is successfully registered, the Technical Contact is allowed to modify certain records as follows:

    Billing Contact

All billing and payment matters shall be the responsibility of the Billing Contact. All invoices will be posted to the Billing Contact's address. Failure to pay for the domain name registration fee and renewal fee may result in deregistration of the domain name.

    Name servers
What criteria should my primary name server meet?
    Go to top of page
Is a secondary name server necessary?

Yes, to act as the alternative server when the primary name server is down. This is to ensure that your name server is accessible 24 hours a day and to avoid unnecessary traffic on the Internet due to the failure to resolve network names on your server.

Make sure your secondary name server meets the following criteria:

If you have more than one secondary name server, you can register it only AFTER your domain name has been successfully registered. To register, your Technical Contact must submit an application to Add Secondary Name Server (under Modification of the domain name record).

If you do not have your own secondary server, most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) or domain name hosting providers can rent you one.

    Go to top of page
Is there any name server configuration guideline document which I can refer to?
Yes. Please refer to the Name Server Configuration Guidelines document.
    Go to top of page
Why can’t I access my domain name, or other sub-domains within my domain name(e.g. can't access www.companyname.com.my within companyname.com.my)?

This is probably due to not having a DNS entry like ‘A’ record or ‘CNAME’ for that host in your zone file. If you have added a DNS entry, please make sure you have increased the ‘serial number’ of that zone file, then reload/restart the ‘named’ process for the changes to take effect.

    Payment
    What about payment?
All billing and payment matters shall be the responsibility of the Billing Contact.

There is a registration fee and an annual fee, both of which are non-refundable. For details, please refer to the Fees Schedule.

Failure to pay the domain name registration fee and the renewal fee will result in the suspension and/or deregistration of the domain name. So, please ensure prompt payment to your Invoicing Party. For details on your Invoicing Party please use our Whois service.

If .my DOMAIN REGISTRY itself is your Invoicing Party, you may make payment through various means, including online payment. Click here to see your options.

What happens when my domain name is suspended?

Suspension of domain name means the domain name is removed from the DNS. All domain name related activities cease functioning, for e.g. websites and e-mail will not work once your domain name is suspended. However, your domain name remains registered. Your domain name is deregistered (i.e. made available to the public) only upon the deletion of your domain name.

    Security

Can anyone access my domain name information?

No, access is restricted by userIDs and Passwords.

    Go to top of page
How do UserIDs and Passwords work?

These are identification codes to identify a particular holder of each Code. Only by using the right UserIDs and Passwords will the Administrative Contact and Technical Contact be able to access certain Code information.

Therefore, once your domain name has been successfully registered, the UserIDs and Passwords are required whenever the relevant Contact Person wants to make modifications to a domain name record, delete a domain name and/or transfer a domain name. (see Making Changes To A Domain Name Record above).

The same UserID and Password for each Code may also be used for other domain names. For example, if a Registrant has registered three domain names, the same UserID and Password for the Administrative Contact (and therefore the same Code) may be used to access the application forms to modify the records of, delete and transfer all three domain names.

However, each time your Administrative Contact appoints a new Administrative Contact or Technical Contact who hasn’t been appointed before (and therefore has not been assigned a Code), new Codes will be created for him or her. The new Contact Person will then be required to create a new UserID and Password. Upon confirmation of the appointments, the new Contact Person must change the password immediately.

    Go to top of page
Can anything be used in a UserID and Pasword?
No, please follow the rules below:
    For UserID:
Please note that this UserID is for security purposes and is different from the UserID in your .name.my e-mail address.

    For Password:

    Go to top of page
How can I safeguard my Password?
    Go to top of page
How do I change my Password?
Please use the facility provided on .my DOMAIN REGISTRY's Online System.
What if I have registered more than one domain name?
Each Code may also be used for other domain names registered under the same Registrant. For example, if a Registrant has registered three domain names, the same Code for Administrative Contact (and therefore the same UserID and Password) may be used to access the application forms to modify the records of, delete and transfer all three domain names.
However, each time your Administrative Contact appoints a new Administrative Contact or Technical Contact who hasn’t been appointed before (and therefore has not been assigned a Code), new Codes will be created for him or her. The new Contact Person will then be required to create a new UserID and Password.

Likewise, for personal domain names, each time you appoint a new Technical Contact who hasn't been appointed before (and therefore has not been assigned a Code ), a new Code will be created for him or her. The new Technical Contact will then be required to create a new UserID and Password.

Upon confirmation of the appointments, the new Contact Person must change the password immediately.
