MYNIC has officially
appointed partners, known as Resellers, to register .com.my, .net.my,
.org.my and .name.my third
level domain names. Resellers bring Registrants through all the steps
of registration, including collecting payments. They also offer non-MYNIC-related
domain name services such as domain name hosting and data services.

ABOUT RESELLERS
What’s
a MYNIC Reseller?
Resellers are
partners officially appointed by MYNIC to handle domain name registration
(DNR) on behalf of MYNIC for the .com.my, .net.my, .org.my and .name.my
domain names. Resellers have personnel dedicated to providing this service,
a list of whom MYNIC maintains.
Resellers are
also authorised to collect MYNIC domain name registration fees for the
above three domain names, from you (i.e. your organisation, the Registrant).
Please note that you do not have to pay any additional fees to the Reseller
to register with them. All domain name registration fees charged are imposed
by MYNIC (see below).
In addition
to registration, Resellers offer their own other services such as domain
name hosting and data services. However, you are not bound to subscribe
to these services when you register with them. For more information on
non-MYNIC services, please refer to the respective Resellers.
Please note
that submitting a domain name registration form does not guarantee registration
of the domain name. You must conform to MYNIC’s procedures and policies,
which your Reseller will explain to you or which you can look up here.
Where
does MYNIC come in?
Once you have
applied to register your domain name with a Reseller, your application
will go to MYNIC for approval. Only MYNIC
can approve or reject domain names. MYNIC also sets and charges .my domain
name registration and renewal fees, and maintains an updated list of Resellers.
Do
all Resellers offer the same .my domain name registration service?
Yes, all Resellers
offer the same domain name registration service. They are obliged to handle
all domain name registration requests and must abide by MYNIC’s Reseller
Programme Policies And Procedures, which outline their duties and service
levels.
However, what
may differ, are the other services that Resellers may choose to bundle
with the domain name registration services, such as domain name hosting
and data services. MYNIC is not responsible for these other services and
the Registrant is not obliged to purchase these other services.
What
do Resellers do with domain name registration information I pass them?
Resellers are
partners who act only on behalf of MYNIC. All information collected on
behalf of MYNIC, that is connected to domain name registration, are proprietary
to MYNIC and will not be transferred, given or sold to any party.
Resellers are
not allowed to distribute domain name data information, including but not
limited to the domain name, registrant, contact persons, server, registration,
expiry and billing information.
Can
I register with a Reseller online?
Yes, please
select a Reseller from the Reseller
list.

What
happens to my application?
Domain name
application forms are processed by MYNIC every working day of the week,
and processing takes two working days. Domain names are registered on a
'first come, first served' basis.
-
If the registration
is approved, MYNIC will e-mail your Contact Persons and your Reseller an
approval notice, and activate your domain name immediately.
-
If your application
is rejected, MYNIC will e-mail a rejection notice to your Contact Persons
and Reseller. The notice will state a reason why it was rejected. If you
want to apply again, you have to go through the whole registration process
from the start. Check out the FAQ
for the most common reasons applications are rejected.
What
about payment?
Please note
that fees charged by MYNIC Resellers may vary but the maximum amount for
.com.my, .net.my and .org.my domain names is RM100.00 per name per year.
For .name.my, the maximum amount is RM40.00 per year.
Sometimes, resellers
may bundle the domain name registration service with other products and
services such as domain name hosting and other data centre services. You
may choose not to buy any of these additional services when you register
your new domain name.
In the event
that the domain name is rejected for whatever reason, your MYNIC Reseller
must refund any payment made by you for the domain name registration.
On the anniversary
of your registration, the reseller will bill you a renewal fee to keep
your domain name registered. When you make payment, make sure the reseller
issues you
with a receipt as proof of payment.
TROUBLE-SHOOTING
Whom
do I contact to find out the status of my application?
MYNIC will notify
you via e-mail throughout these stages of the processing:
-
submission of your
application;
-
upon confirmation
of your application by Reseller;
-
acceptance or rejection
of your domain name by MYNIC.
What
if my application was rejected by MYNIC because the Reseller made a mistake?
That is not likely because the onus is on you to check the accuracy of the information before it's submitted; in particular, double-check the domain name and Registrant information. Submitting the application form means you have confirmed your application and verified the information. However, if in doubt, contact MYNIC.
To
whom do I appeal if my application is rejected?
MYNIC.
Can
I change Resellers halfway through if I’m not happy with the service?
You are free
to go to any Reseller at any stage of your domain name registration process.
However, note that your domain name registration is separate from any other
service you might purchase from a Reseller. MYNIC is not responsible for
any other agreements for services, which you might have signed with them.
Does
a Reseller have the right to reject my application?
Yes, if your
application does not conform to MYNIC policies and procedures, for example
over choices of domain names, and not fulfilling the requisite of having
a local presence. If in doubt, check the MYNIC homepage.
WHERE
CAN I LOOK UP A RESELLER?
Is
there a list of authorised resellers?
Yes. Note that
you should register your .com.my, .net.my, .org.my and name.my
domain name only with a MYNIC Reseller who appears on this list.
If you are recommended or are approached by companies or individuals claiming
to be MYNIC Resellers, and they do not appear on this list, contact MYNIC
immediately.
