ANOTHER MILESTONE FOR MYNIC
Appoints eleven more resellers to increase distribution channels for .my domain names

Kuala Lumpur, 5 April 2002 – The Malaysian Network Information Centre (MYNIC) has appointed eleven more resellers. Nine resellers were appointed during the first phase of the Reseller Programme in September 2001.

In a statement released today, it said that the appointment of the new resellers means that there will now be more partners marketing .my, Malaysia’s top level country domain. Thus, new customers also have a wider choice of resellers to select from. The new resellers are Enetstation (M) Sdn. Bhd., CARI Internet Sdn Bhd, Nerraw.com Sdn Bhd, Magfield Technology Sdn Bhd, KLhost Network Sdn Bhd, Asia Pacific Net (M) Sdn Bhd, Acme Commerce Sdn Bhd, asiaEP.com Sdn Bhd, Shinjiru Webpage Centre, Asianfrontiers Network Services (M) Sdn. Bhd. and Central Data Centre. More resellers will be added on a later date.

MYNIC, a division of MIMOS Berhad, was designated the country code top level domain (ccTLD) manager in 1987. In addition to the operation and management of the name space for the .my top level domain (TLD), it administers six second level domains, namely .com.my, .net.my, .org.my,. edu.my, .gov.my and .mil.my. This involves the registration of domain names and maintenance and operation of a domain name registry (a central database for .my domain names).

Currently, there are about 31,000 .my domain names registered under MYNIC.

With a total of nineteen resellers, it is now more convenient for companies and organisations to apply for the .my domain name. Apart from the Klang Valley, there are resellers in Penang, Johor and Sarawak.

Apart from marketing the .my domain names, the resellers offer other services such as domain name hosting and data services.
