MYNIC Invites Public Comments On Second Level '.my' Domain Name Space

25 May 2005

Dear Valued Customers,

MYNIC, the .my country code top level domain (ccTLD) manager, today announced the launch of its public consultation process on opening up registration in the second-level .my domain name space.

Currently only third-level domain names (such as 'abc123.com.my') can be registered under .my. This proposed new service means customers can register second level domain names (e.g. 'abc123.my') and this will be open to both organisations and individuals.

Besides providing more choices to the public for registering '.my' domain names, the proposed second level domains is to respond to local demand for second-level domain names.

MYNIC and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) invites the public to submit their comments on this proposed new service. The joint public consultation paper entitled "Reintroducing Second Level .my Domain Name Space" can be found on both MYNIC's and MCMC's websites.

The public comments period is until 5pm, Friday, 24 June 2005 and comments can be e-mailed to 2LD-comments@mynic.net.my. We welcome and encourage interested parties to raise any issue pertinent to them and it would be most useful if they were substantiated with rationales, examples and alternative proposals. Please remember to include full contact particulars such as name, designation and organisation name (if relevant), postal address, e-mail address and contact numbers.

Please do not hesitate to e-mail us at 2LD-comments@mynic.net.my or telephone 03-8991 7272 or fax 03-8991 7277 should you have any further query.
