Launch of New Personal Domain Name Category

Dear Valued Customers,

MYNIC is pleased to announce that registration for its newly introduced personal domain names (PDNs) category, ".name.my", will be open on Tuesday 10 February 2004.

Online registrations can be made through MYNIC resellers listed in MYNIC's website (www.mynic.net.my). It will be on first come-first served basis, at RM40 per domain name.

MYNIC would also like to thank the public who have responded to their joint public consultation paper with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (www.mcmc.gov.my) by submitting their comments. The comments were positive and supportive towards the launch of PDN.

PDN registration will be open to all Malaysians, aged 18 years and above, provided they furnish the relevant documents. It is also open to non-Malaysians aged 18 years and above, residing in Malaysia, provided they show proof of identity and residence. Persons under 18 years would be able to register for domain names under the care of their parents or guardians.

Registration requirements for name.my will be published on the launch date.
